HAT Fair organisers are calling on people to perform at this year’s festivities.

Playmakers want local singers, musicians, comics, choir members, dance troupes and others with a short performance to apply now to be part of Hat Fair – the UK’s longest running festival of outdoor arts which is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary.

This year the festival, which takes place across Winchester city centre, will run from July 5-7. The people and groups chosen will perform on either Saturday, July 6 or Sunday, July 7.

The closing date to apply is Monday, March 11 at 12pm – with more information and the online application form available at playmakers.org.uk/news/perform-hat-fair-2024.

Playmakers is also looking for community choirs across the Winchester district to take part in the festival’s opening ceremony on Friday 5 July at 6pm. The choirs will learn an original song.

The closing date for community choirs to register their interest to take part is Friday March 29 and more information and the online form are available at playmakers.org.uk/news/your-community-choir-hat-fair-2024.

Hannah Jones, Playmakers engagement producer, said: “We are really looking forward to collaborating with local performers and choirs for our Hat Fair 50th anniversary.

“This is a one of a kind chance to perform and celebrate with us in style and make our 50th anniversary a year to remember and be part of its legacy.”
