A HAMPSHIRE zoo has reopened after it had to close yesterday (February 3) due to a water leak.

Marwell Zoo was shut all day because of the leak at the entrance to the park.

However, the zoo confirmed in a Facebook post that they would be able to open as normal on Sunday, February 4.

In the update, posted at 6.55pm on Saturday, February 3, it said: “The zoo will reopen tomorrow (Sunday February 4.)

“We’re pleased to let you know Southern Water have repaired the water leak and we’re able to reopen tomorrow.

“Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and kindness today. Unfortunately, the decision to close the zoo was made shortly before opening as the increasing amount of water flooding from the burst water pipe was unsafe. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but guest safety is our absolute priority and the circumstances were simply beyond our control.

“We look forward to welcoming you to the zoo tomorrow. We’re a charity and every visit funds the care of our animals in the zoo and our conservation work around the world.

“Thank you as always for your support.”
