EXTENSION proposals for a listed building in a Hampshire village have been refused, despite the sympathy of a planning committee.
Martin and Joy Cummings wanted to have a single storey extension for an exercise pool with a jacuzzi and associated plant room shed at Kingfisher Lodge in Longstock Road, Longstock.
However, it was recommended for refusal by planning officers due to the impact on the listed building.
Test Valley Borough Council's planning committee made the decision on Tuesday, January 30. The applicants had a similar scheme refused last year.

The planning officers' report said: “Although there is no objection on ecology grounds to the proposal, the proposed rear extension would impact harmfully upon the significance of the listed building with no public benefits that would outweigh the level of harm to the heritage asset in this instance.”
Cllr Ian Jeffrey said: “I appreciate that officers say we should refuse this, but I have sympathy with the applicants. You can't see the house from the road.”
Cllr Philip Bundy said: “Listed buildings have different rules when it comes to views from the road.”
The committee voted narrowly in favour of refusing it, with seven votes for and five against.
