LITTLETON and Harestock Gardening Club’s next talk will be on gardening on chalk with Geoff Hodge. The talk starts at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 21 on Zoom.

The club, founded in 1992, for gardeners of any experience, meets on the third Wednesday of each month, usually at Littleton Memorial Hall.  The following meeting will be the group’s annual general meeting on March 20. Meanwhile, All Saints Flower Arranging Club meets on the last Thursday of the month at the hall from 2-4pm.

THE Friends of Sparsholt School (FoSS) are inviting parents and guardians to provide their feedback on what events they have enjoyed and how they might be able to help.

The volunteers have launched a survey, accessible from the latest school newsletter, which is open until Monday, January 29.

FoSS is planning a film night after half term, with a date yet to be confirmed. The volunteers also wanted to thank fellow parents for their help fundraising for the new school kitchen and pond area.

QUIZ nights and ‘Dinner, Jazz and Blue Nights’ by Cinamon Jazz have re-started for the year at The Plough Inn, in Sparsholt.

Quizzes will be held on January 31, February 28, March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26, July 31, August 28, September 25, October 30 and November 27. THE Martyr Worthy Lecture Series continues on Friday, February 2 with Dr John Davies. Dr Davies’ talk ‘Fame and Obscurity’ will explore Queen Victoria’s two favourite court artists.

The event starts at Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall at 6.30pm for drinks and canapes before the hour-long lecture begins at 7.15pm. Tickets cost £25, with proceeds being split between the four churches in the Itchen Valley Parish.

THE Pop Pickers will be bringing music from the 50s, 60s, 70s to The Worthies Sport and Social Club on Saturday, January 27. The performance will start at 8.30pm. The club posted on Facebook: “Free entry and as usual non-members more than welcome. Alcohol-free gin, cider and lager available for you dry January goers.”

The Worthies Craft and Makers Market will also be back at the club, in Loader Close, on March 24, April 21 and May 19 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The market is limited to 30 tables with each stall costing £10. Stall holder payments for the first market are due in February. There will be free entry, free parking and non-members are welcome. For more information email carolansell24@gmail.com.
