THE site of a former café which closed suddenly last year is close to being let after lying empty for nearly five months.

The building, located in The Square, is being let by Goadsby Winchester.

Allan Pickering, who is managing the letting, said: “The property is Under Offer and we expect to have the new lease completed very soon.

“We are looking forward to new retailer taking over the space, as we know they will be a great addition to Winchester.”

The site was previously the location of the café and bar Autumn House, which suddenly closed in August last year.

As previously reported, the business was owned by Alex Donnan and Laura Turner. An ex-employee of Autumn House, who asked to remain anonymous, said that staff were not informed of the closure until the last possible moment. She estimated that she was owed around £2,000, with the entire staff owed at least a month’s wages.

A second business owned by Mr Donnan and Ms Turner, Number 25 on Stockbridge Road, closed in September, approximately a month after the shuttering of Autumn House.
