A VILLAGER from near Winchester has been sent to prison after he was caught with a throwing knife, knuckleduster and drugs.

Benedict Watson, 31, of Main Road, Owslebury, was told only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified and was jailed for six months.

Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday January 10 that Watson had admitted a string of offences committed on October 12 last year: possessing diazepam, a class C drug, as well as cannabis and cannabis resin, both class B drugs; possessing a throwing knife in Fiona Close, Winnall, without good reason; having a knuckleduster at his home in Owslebury; and obstructing/resisting PC Killick.

Watson was also ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge by May 10.
