A weather warning for ice is in force as temperatures are set to plunge.

Winchester is set to brace for a cold snap today according to the Met Office.

Temperatures will feel as low as -4C with a dusting of snow expected from 4pm this afternoon.

The yellow warning for ice is in place from 3pm today until 3am on Tuesday.

A spokesperson from the Met Office said: “Parts of southern Britain are likely to see some snow showers during Monday afternoon and the first part of the night.

“Most places will see little or no lying snow, but 1-2 cm may settle in one or two places, mostly over high ground.

“In addition, some icy surfaces are possible for a time.”

Residents can expect some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths.

Injuries may occur from slips and falls on these surfaces.

The whole of Hampshire is affected by the weather warning, along with neighbouring counties Dorset and Sussex.
