“SNAGGING issues” have caused further delays to a park’s long-awaited new play tower.

Eversley Park in Kings Worthy, which opened following a revamp over the summer, is still without the much-anticipated tower.

Kings Worthy Parish Council announced on Facebook that there had been an “unexpected delay” due to needing additional parts from the manufacturer, on Friday, January 5.

The popular zipline is also in need of some work, with the paintwork starting to peel off despite only recently having been installed.

The post read: “Tower opening – Unfortunately, there has been an unexpected delay in the opening of our new tower at Eversley Park play area. This delay is due to some snagging issues that we highlighted in the pre-opening independent inspection. These snagging issues required additional parts from the manufacturer. We are working hard with our contractors to resolve these remaining items and will update you as soon an opening date is known.

“Zipline – As you may be aware, the paint on our much-loved new zipline had started to peel off shortly after installation. This was highlighted immediately and needs to be rectification by the manufacturer. This re-painting work is currently ongoing and we are actively chasing the completion of this work. We will endeavour to keep distribution to users of the zipline to a minimum whilst the works are completed. Unfortunately, we were not notified of the paint stripping ahead of time and thus we apologise for the delay in the completion of the painting works.

“We very much appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we get these final works completed.”

The play area, in Loader Close, experienced a series of problems ahead of its opening including vandalism, broken glass and ceramics and objections to the height of the main tower during the application stage.

The playground was initially supposed to be closed for five weeks, ready to open in time for the King’s Coronation in May.

The play tower was eventually approved at the end of May but the ongoing “snagging issues” mean it is yet to be installed.
