AFTER a two-year wait a pub in a village near Winchester will finally be reopening.

The Chestnut Horse, in Easton, is opening its doors to customers on Monday, January 8.

The pub and neighbouring shop and deli will be open every day with the pub serving lunch and dinner from midday and the deli offering breakfast from 9am.

Avington Park, who bought the business in 2022 following requests from residents, had planning permission approved for the refurbishment over the summer.

The investment aims to bring the 16th-century pub back to its former glory, including bedrooms and a revamped shop. The previous shop, in a chalet in the car park, had also closed.

New manager Jacob Riggs previously said: “I am excited to be on board at The Chestnut Horse, as we near the completion of our extensive refurbishment. I am very much looking forward to welcoming guests from January, ensuring that the pub is once again a roaring success – as a place for locals to catch up over a pint with friends, enjoy special occasions or simply pop by a freshly baked loaf of bread.”

The all-day dining menu, led by head chef Joe Hibberd, will feature a range of small plates, pub classics, sharing boards, and seasonal dishes.
