ROMSEY Ramblers recently enjoyed their much anticipated mince pie walk.

The group's annual expedition started at Broughton car park on Wednesday, December 20.

Les Mildon, footpath and walking environment officer, said: “The walk took in footpaths and byways with the ultimate goal of reaching the Boot Inn at Houghton, where coffee and warm mince pies were waiting to be served.

“The weather was overcast but dry and mild. Underfoot conditions were tacky but despite the recent rainfall, not too muddy. Ramblers always seem attracted to water crossings, so lingering on bridges to appreciate the view of Wallop Brook was to be expected. Our journey back to Broughton was mostly along the Clarendon Way which, along this section, also forms part of the Monarch's Way.”

Whilst the mince pie walk is an annual event, it is just one of Romsey Ramblers’ programme of around 75 walks across Hampshire and surrounding counties each year.
