A NEW McDonald's that opened in Winchester last month creating 130 new jobs has started to do McDelivery.

The 24-hour McDonald’s restaurant at Winchester Tesco in Winnall opened on November 29 following significant investment from a local franchisee Tony Bennett.

The restaurant, which is situated on Easton Lane, opened for dine-in, takeaway, drive-thru and click and serve. It is also now offering home delivery via its McDelivery service.

The 76-seater restaurant created around 130 new full and part-time jobs and has table service, self-ordering kiosks, a large outside patio area and a drive-thru with Smart Digital Drive-Thru menu boards.

Tony Bennett, who now owns and operates 20 McDonald’s restaurants in south west, said: “We are delighted to be opening another brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Winchester and can’t wait to see local customers, both new and existing, enjoy our services on offer. People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create. We’re committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages and backgrounds, promoting flexibility and equality.”

Tony also runs the restaurant in Winchester city centre, as well as stores at Basingstoke Leisure Park, two in Salisbury, one in Ower, one at the A31 Picket Post, Eastleigh and others.

The restaurant also implemented a series of sustainable innovations as the business works towards its target of achieving net zero emissions across all its restaurants and offices by 2030.

The new restaurant features the latest innovations in sustainable building design such as roof-mounted solar panels, modular building which allows the building to be reused in future, timber window frames and partition walls and wall lettering made from recycled material.

It is also trialling air windows which help to retain heat within the building, reducing the amount of energy the building will use, and plastic kerbstones made from recycled materials with built-in internal drainage.
