Winchester Ramblers got together recently to celebrate a year of walking, campaigning and volunteering.

Their annual Mince Pie Walk was held in Sutton Scotney, with a choice of two separate walks, of about 10 miles each.

Despite the cold and drizzly winter weather, around 20 wrapped-up walkers brought a picnic lunch and flask to enjoy on their walk, before meeting at the Victoria Hall to warm up over mince pies and hot mulled wine.

Richard Eve, chairman of Winchester Ramblers, said: “It is great to be able to report that our volunteer walk leaders led groups of ramblers on about 250 separate walks of various distances this year in all weathers, totalling an incredible 2,500 miles.

"We are lucky to have such an amazing and dedicated team of volunteers, and we look forward to welcoming many new walkers on the programme of 60 walks that we have planned for the first three months of 2024.”

A festive hike is planned for December 29 and a 'New Year Resolution Walk' on January 6.
