A HAMPSHIRE golf club has celebrated raising more than £20,000 for charity.

Alresford Golf Club raised £20,556 for Rainbow Trust with events throughout the year.

The 2023 club captain Simon Freemantle said: “We are delighted to have broken the £20k mark for our chosen charity of Rainbow Trust. Our amazing Alresford Golf Club members have generously supported us throughout the year with numerous fundraising events including our successful golf trip to St Mellion in Cornwall, charity days, raffles and auctions.

"Rainbow Trust is such a special charity, and the money is destined to help and benefit children and families in the local area.”

On hand to help with the celebrations was Katherine Burgess, corporate and community fundraising manager for Rainbow Trust.

Katherine said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Alresford Golf Club over the past year and we are incredibly grateful to them for the time and effort that’s been put into their numerous fundraising initiatives.

“Together with members at Alresford Golf Club, the club captains have raised more than £20,000 which is enough to support 10 local families affected by serious childhood illness, for a whole year. This support can be the difference between a family coping or falling apart, and on behalf of those families I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in raising this substantial donation to Rainbow Trust.

“Rainbow Trust is seeing the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on fundraising, so a donation like this gives us the stability we need right now.”
