A HAMPSHIRE pub is helping underprivileged children receive a toy this Christmas.

The Vine Inn, in Ower, is one of 235 Hungry Horse donation stations across the country sending gifts to disadvantaged children in surrounding communities.

The initiative follows research which highlighted 18 per cent of UK parents know a child who won’t get a present this Christmas, totalling around 2.2m kids.

Anyone who wants to donate any preloved, new or unused toys should visit The Vine Inn, in Romsey Road, or another Hungry Horse pub before Monday, December 18.

Donations will be sent to the nominated local charity.

Sarah Williams, marketing manager for Hungry Horse, said: “We believe that every child deserves the joy of a Christmas present, and Hungry Horse is proud to continue its 'Toy Boxing Day' scheme for the third year running.

“Together, we can ensure that no child goes without a gift this festive season and spread the true spirit of Christmas throughout our communities.”
