A WOMAN’S Institute (WI) group raised more than £100 for its local scout group and its Christmas meal.

The Somborne Sisterhood celebrated its last meeting of the year in style with a meal at King’s Somborne Village Hall.

Each table was decorated with white tablecloths, coloured napkins, sparkling lights, clementines and Quality Streets.

A chef from the nearby Crown Inn delivered curry, rice, naan bread, poppadoms and mango chutney.

All the members brought a bottle and contributed generously to the raffle, raising £173 for King’s Somborne Scouts.

Committee member Rebecca Rickard said: "The Sisterhood is very proud of the raffle money we raised to support our local scouts, who, like many others, are struggling to survive."

The sisterhood’s next meeting on Friday, January 5 is open to all members and guests. Lisa Johnson from Pearl Lifestyles will be leading a talk to encourage the women to overcome adversity.
