A Winchester fashion brand has launched new Christmas and party clothing perfect for the festive season.

Well Worn, founded by Emma Shaw three years ago,  is an independent slow fashion company with sustainability at its heart.

Operating from Kings Walk, all the clothing is designed in Winchester and manufactured in the UK. Most of the collection is made to order so waste is as minimal as possible.

Emma, 49, said: "I've always wanted to do my own brand, and having worked for some big brands and retailers before, I saw how much waste there is in the industry.

"I also only use dead stock or vintage fabric. Rather than them going to waste, I would rather make them into something else."

She continued: "A lot of my customers are based in London but I've shipped products to Tokoyo, Australia, New Zealand, America, France - all over really.

"I think that is the beauty of social media, the fact that people can get to know your brand via Instagram. It's really nice to spread out."

The mum-of-two invited people into her studio on Thursday, November 23, for an exclusive preview of the new party collection.

Guests tucked into a glass of wine and delicious nibbles under the disco ball with Emma's clothing surrounding them - the centre of the piece was the new golden party dress.

Emma said: "I thought I would push the boundaries a little bit, I managed to source some gold to make a Christmas dress, and I've managed to make some more dresses as well just to really have some pieces that are perfect for this time of year."

Having worked in the industry for more than 25 years, Emma now shares her expertise with students at the School of Art. She also invites students into her studio to complete work placements.

Emma added: "When you're working on your own, you have the connections online and stuff like that but you miss the face-to-face.

"On the run-up to Christmas, I will have some studio open days so people can come up to touch, feel and try stuff on which is really nice."
