MORE than £3,000 was raised for a Romsey charity at a quiz night in Winchester

Dutton Gregory Solicitors hosted the event at the Wessex Mercure Hotel, raising funds for Romsey Opportunity Group.

A total of 24 businesses took part.

After a closely fought battle, the Southampton Solent University Subpoena Coladas were able to retain their title from last year by just one point.

The night also included a raffle including a range of prizes, donated by local businesses, including hampers, hotel stays, champagne and a football signed by the Southampton football team which the club kindly donated.

The money raised was £3,729.15 for Romsey Opportunity Group, which provides support for children with additional needs and their families.

Janine Hollands, manager at the charity, said: "We were absolutely blown away by the amount of money raised, which is going to be used to upgrade our sensory room and provide even better facilities for our children. We thank Dutton Gregory for their continued support year after year in providing such a fantastic evening which helps raise funds and awareness of our charity."

Jon Whettingsteel, partner and head of the family department at Dutton Gregory and quiz master for the evening, said: "It is amazing to see how our quiz and curry night has grown in just three years. I’m so grateful for the support and generosity of our contacts in coming along in supporting the event and more importantly a fantastic local charity. We’re looking forward to next year’s event, and will need to find a bigger venue!"
