A COMMUNITY library recently celebrated receiving council funding with a new flag.
North Baddesley Community Library, based at All Saints Church in Rownhams Road, cut the ribbon on its new flag on Friday, November 17.
The volunteer-run facility celebrated its 10th anniversary in April.
The library got grants totalling £2,000 from Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council.
Volunteer Debbie Evenhand said: “The flag helps with publicity to show that the library is open. It's more visible for the local community. Grants from Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council have helped to purchase the flag. It's very much appreciated.”

Debbie added that the rest of the money is being put to good use. She said: “To tidy the area within the church we have mobile storage units. These will help greatly to rotate our stock of books. Money also goes to keeping the library open.
“We're also in the process of buying some new books, some classics have been requested. Each grant was £1,000. A lot of it will go towards running costs.”
Geoff Cooper, ward councillor for North Baddesley, said: “Obviously it's a great opportunity to support the community library. The council wants to promote local community services like this. It's brilliant.”
The library stocks a wide range of books, from children's fiction to crime thrillers.
