ROMSEY Old Cadets Carnival Show Band is celebrating six decades this month.

The band made its debut at Romsey Carnival in 1963, attending each event without fail.

Members have also played in the German Rhine Carnivals for 25 years, and it makes regular appearances at the Winchester Bonfire Night Procession.

Each year members showcase a new costume theme, their first being ‘Sons of the Sands’ using bed sheets and tea towels to make their costumes.

Other themes over the 60 years include ducks, scarecrows, leprechauns and Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

As previously reported, the band was scheduled to celebrate its anniversary at the Romsey Carnival in August. However, the event was ultimately cancelled due to a combination of "major health problems and a lack of support".
