Citizens Advice Winchester District will establish a new base in Wickham.

Wickham Community Centre will provide a home for a small team of advisers where they can advise local people by phone, email, and in person.

The move is part of the charity’s plans to increase accessibility and extend its reach to people across the district.

It will also provide a permanent base for the charity in the south of the district, following the announcement that the building currently home to their Bishop’s Waltham office is to be sold.

Wickham Community Centre is a thriving community hub and provides the ideal base for a satellite office for Citizens Advice Winchester District, which will operate alongside its main office in the city.

Sue Campbell, chief executive, said: “We’re incredibly excited by this move to Wickham Community Centre. The new location is a fantastic, welcoming and accessible space. This move also provides the perfect opportunity for closer partnership working between us and the many local groups who use the centre."

As part of its development plans, Citizens Advice Winchester District will also be hosting fortnightly advice sessions at Bishop’s Waltham library and is launching a home visiting service aimed at people who need to see an adviser in person but are unable to travel.

Citizens Advice Winchester District offers free, impartial advice to anyone who lives or works in the Winchester district and provides guidance and support on a wide range of issues. The charity has been at the forefront of the cost-of-living crisis locally, helping people to access benefits, manage their debts, understand their rights and access emergency support.

Citizens Advice Winchester District aims to have the Wickham office up and running in early December, at which time the office in Bishop’s Waltham will close.
