Thank you for supporting the debate on the future of Crosfield Hall.

Your paper is providing an excellent service to the Romsey community.

The discussion on the future of Crosfield Hall has been illuminating, with almost unanimous support for maintaining the hall on its current site in your letters section.

I read the contribution of Councillor Cooper on the subject with interest. One of his main arguments seems to be that he doesn't find the venue suitable for council meetings. Surely an alternative solution would be to hold council meetings in a different venue.

He lists several problems: It is usual to improve inefficient heating, as countless domestic and public buildings have. Improving the insulation of buildings is now standard. Building acoustics can be modified using acoustic panelling. "Antediluvian loos" can be replaced. Small meeting rooms can be amalgamated.

His article seems a good starting point for a refurbishment plan, which would have much less impact on the feel of the town centre and reduce carbon costs.

Perhaps the "two or three-decked car park" with green walls could be constructed on the Rapids site.

A three-storey car park in the centre of the town would spoil the market town feel, with or without green walls
