Last Thursday (November 9) I was stranded with others at a bus stop to return to St Catherine’s Park and Ride by King Alfred’s statue in Winchester.

After a long wait I decided to try and walk despite being old and infirm.

I stopped at a garage to check my route where a young woman kindly took me by car to the carpark.

I do not know her name but am most grateful to her and commend her charitable action.
