As in previous years, Victoria Burbidge and Marc Thompson of the Romsey War Memorial Archive have organised two projects to mark remembrance.

These are the Remembrance Trail around Romsey and the Field of Poppies in the War Memorial Park.

The field of poppies consists of knitted poppies, each one named for a Romsey man or woman lost in the First or Second World War.

The majority of the poppies were created by the ladies of the Romsey Abbey Knitting and Sewing Group, but a number of poppies were knitted by relatives of those commemorated on the town’s War Memorial.

The Remembrance Trail, scheduled to run until Sunday, November 19, is once more being hosted by more than 40 shops and businesses around the town centre, with trail leaflets available from the Visitor Information Centre in Church Street.

Further information relating to the men featured within the trail is available by email from victoria.burbidge@ntlworld.com or marc.thompson@mc2.myzen.co.uk or by phone on 01794 501755.
