A FREE afternoon concert will be coming to a Winchester church in a bid to raise money for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 18 at 3pm at the United Church, Jewry Street, Winchester.

It will see the Kennet Accordion Orchestra perform, as well as guest artist, Ukrainian electric accordion player Volodymyr Vaselenko, who some will have seen at previous concerts in the Winchester area since he and his family had to leave Ukraine because of the war.

Peter Liddiard said: "He is a very talented musician, and the audience will thoroughly enjoy the combination of soloist and Orchestra."

The concert will have a retiring collection in aid of the Disasters Emergency Committee for Ukraine.

The Kennet Accordion Orchestra was formed 40 years ago and undertakes numerous concerts supporting various charities and fund-raising activities.  Neither they nor Volodymyr, charge for their appearances at concerts – all money raised goes to the charity.
