STAFF and residents at a Winchester care home were treated to a visit from a therapy dog.

The Pets As Therapy (PAT) visits are a regular occurrence at Flowerdown Care Home in Harestock.

Time with the four-legged friends is a highlight for the residents who love to stroke them, talk to them and give them treats.

The latest guest was Monty and its owner Glen Jones, who were at the home as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

Glen said: “Monty had a wonderful morning visiting residents I don’t think he has had so much attention. It was lovely to see the residents getting so much pleasure from the visit, I think it is fair to say Monty has a new fan club.”

Claudia Nunes, general manager, said: “All our residents are fascinated by animals so we were delighted that Monty was able to visit. It was brilliant to be able to ask Glen questions about working with Monty and what it is like to look after him. We loved hearing about his personality.”
