CARE home residents were treated to a "magnificent" day out at the Army Flying Museum.

Residents at Shawford Springs care home on Otterbourne Road in Compton recently enjoyed what they described as a "magnificent trip" to the Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop near Stockbridge.

One resident in particular, Alan, found it to be a special day. He used to work at the Army Aviation Centre which is situated right next door to the Flying Museum.

Alan spent much of his working life providing aviation artwork and drawings to various companies, and after his visit to the museum, he said: "I’ve had such a wonderful day out at the Army Flying Museum, I’m thrilled to have seen many of the planes that I recognise and have worked on over the years."

General manager Julie House said: "Our residents and guests had a wonderful day out at the Museum.

"We do our very best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Shawford Springs as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and it was lovely to hear how our residents enjoyed their trip and enjoyed reminiscing."

Shawford Springs care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers.

Barchester Healthcare says it is "committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals."
