I was under the impression that being older brought a few benefits instead just wisdom!

On applying for the free TV Licence I am informed 'sorry you need to be on pension credit to qualify'.

Next I’m informed I’m due a tax rebate. Oh happy days. When it arrives it has been issued by a separate company. And they have the right to charge me £20 to do that.

Today applying for a residents' parking permit, again the body responsible for issuing them is known as 'miparking' but not the Hampshire council.

When the young man has taken all the details and it comes to paying. No you can’t pay by PayPal.

No you can’t pay by cheque. No he cannot speak to a member of the council. They are not allowed to speak to the people employing them and no he cannot include the photographs I had sent him.

Even prior to all the scamming, I refuse to give out my card details to anyone. Then along comes our county council disregarding all the basic precautions to keep your money in your own bank respectfully but wholly unimpressed.
