THERE will be a house-to-house Poppy Appeal collection in South Wonston in support of the Royal British Legion this weekend.

Volunteer collectors will visit all roads in the village on Saturday, October 28. Additionally, there will be a box with a range of poppy wares, including traditional poppies, wooden crosses, wrist bands and pin badges, in the South Wonston Shop & Post Office and the Social Club.

The collectors will only be able to take cash – gift aid declaration envelopes will be available on request. South Wonston School will be having the usual ‘children’s box’ plus poppies for staff and children.

ENTERTAINMENT Events is returning to Micheldever with a new production of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. Join Marley, Tiny Tim and the Ghosts of Christmas Past Present and Future as they teach Scrooge the true meaning of Christmas.

The show will take place at St Mary’s Church, Micheldever on Sunday, December 3. Suitable for all ages, the show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and can be purchased on TicketSource or by contacting Juliet Pattinson by calling 01962 774399 or emailing julietpattinson61@gmail.com.

THE South Wonston Parish Council fireworks display takes place on Saturday, November 4 at the Recreation Ground.

The event opens at 5.30pm, with the fireworks starting at 6.30pm. The event will feature food and drinks on sale, as well as music and fairground rides (weather permitting).

The display is free to enter, with a suggested donation of £1 per person.

South Wonston Parish Council is still looking for wooden pallets to be burned on the bonfire. Anyone with pallets to donate is asked to contact the council before November 4.

SUTTON Scotney Divos' and Devers have announced their 2023 Christmas panto, The Wizard of Oz.

Performances will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 7 to Saturday, December 9 with matinee performances at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 10. The performances will be held at Victoria Hall, on Wonston Close.

The show is appropriate for all the family, and tickets are now on sale. All proceeds go to charity, including the Victoria Hall.

THE Victoria Hall Christmas Market is returning on Saturday, November 18.

Running at the hall from 10am to 12.30pm, it is the perfect opportunity to stock up on presents and cards, as well enjoy refreshments and perhaps even win a raffle prize.

THE next Micheldever Village Lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1.

Taking place at 12.30pm in Northbrook Hall, the lunch costs £4.50 for a freshly prepared two-course lunch, a glass of either sherry or wine and coffee. The lunch provides an occasion for both old and new friends to meet and chat.
