TOWN chiefs in

Alresford

have approved the holding of up to three car boot sales in 2024 in the car park at Arlebury Park to use half of the car park. It was agreed at the operations and resources committee of the town council.

A COFFEE morning for a children's charity will be held in Alresford on Saturday October 28. The Michael Project is holding the event at John Pearson Hall between 10am and Noon. There will be coffee and tea, cakes and scones, a sales table and a raffle.

THE Old Alresford Fireworks Display and Bonfire takes place on Saturday November 4.

The display will start promptly at 6.30pm so arrive from 6pm to enjoy mulled wine, soup, hot dogs and burger.

Sparklers will also be on sale. Entrance is free but we do rely on donations so please bring cash and please give generously!

NEW Leaf Alresford, an environment group, is holding a community eco fair on Saturday, November 4 thanks to a grant from Winchester City Council.

Taking place in the John Pearson Hall at St John’s Church from 10am to 3pm, the fair will feature a variety of stalls, interactive displays and talks from local groups and businesses covering areas from green travel and home energy to wildlife gardening, low waste shopping and cooking.

There will also be a “sweater swap” event, alongside quizzes and games to take part in and food on offer to buy.

Entry to the fair is free.

ONE of the biggest public events of the year is returning to Alresford.

The annual fireworks display is approaching. It will be held on Friday November 3 with the traditional torchlit procession from Broad Street at 7pm before the bonfire and fireworks at Arlebury Park at 7.45pm. The local fire engine will take part in the proceedings.

Tickets are available online from October 1.

THE Alresford Historical and Literary Society has one more scheduled talk this year.

On November 15 Barrie Lee will speak on George Wither, the English Civil war writer jailed four times by both sides.

THE Alresford minibus is seeking more volunteer drivers.

Stalwarts Ray Hedger and Margot Power have retired and although volunteers have come forward the New Alresford Town Trust is always looking for more. Email minibus@towntrust.org.uk.
