A TEENAGER has been left with serious injuries after a crash at a dangerous crossroads in a Hampshire village. 

The incident happened at the crossroad junction of Bishop's Wood Road, Gravel Hill and Forest Road at 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 10. It involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a red Benelli Tornado motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, an 18-year-old woman from Havant, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Astra, a 55-year-old man from Wickham, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and drug driving.

He has been released on bail until Thursday, January 11 while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "We are appealing for anyone with information about this collision to come forward to help our investigation.

"Did you see either vehicle in the area around the time of the collision yesterday?

"If you saw anything, or have relevant dash cam or CCTV footage, please call 101 or report online, quoting reference 44230415442."

The junction has seen several collisions over the past few years - and its safety has been the subject of discussion by Swanmore Parish Council numerous times. 

Hampshire County Council, which looks after the roads, has put in extra signs, flashing speed indicators and removed vegetation.
