A HAMPSHIRE villager must pay more than £1,000 after speeding on the M1.

Marc Arthur Cumberlege, 61, of Kilmeston Road, Kilmeston, near Alresford, was caught driving a Mercedes at 92mph, 22mph above the speed limit, on Sunday, January 8 by an automatic camera, a court heard.

Cumberlege has also been banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending.

He was sentenced by Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday, October 6. 

Cumberlege was fined £768 and must pay a surcharge of £307. The total penalty of £1,075 must be paid by Friday, November 3.
