Last Thursday lunchtime (September 28) a spellbound audience were treated to a phenomenal recital by the young pianist Katya Grabova, in the series at St Cross.
Katya performed the second half of Brahms Klavierstucke op. 76, music of real intimacy and tenderness, before delivering a very powerful and passionate rendition of Beethoven’s fiercely virtuosic Appassionata Sonata.

Such was the power and projection she achieved that she filled the church with beautiful sonorities, even from an upright piano. She is undoubtedly destined to go far, as all can witness if they listen to any of her recordings on YouTube.
Meanwhile the Pitch Perfect lunchtime concert series goes from strength to strength, with concerts every Thursday at 12.30pm through to the end of October.
