St Cross Hospital Perfect Pitch lunchtime concerts continue on Thursday, October 5 at 12.30pm with Songs of Love. 

A programme of Ukrainian songs of love for their country and by contrast American Songbook numbers from the shows to add some romance.

Taking part in the programme will be three Ukrainian musicians, well known to St Cross audiences, as well as concert organiser Graham Davies.

Volodymyr Vasylenko is a Ukrainian jazz musician who came to the UK with his family under the Homes for Ukraine scheme. He has 30 years of experience in playing and teaching jazz on the accordion.

Volodymyr is a talented musician and one of the few who plays jazz on the accordion and button accordion. He has numerous awards and formal qualifications, as well as extensive experience in concert activities.

He is happy to give his work to the widest possible audience and has anticipated in charity concerts in support of Ukraine, as well as performs solo and in various musical ensembles.

Lala Smaglova is a Ukrainian folk ethnic singer. She has been performing since she was six years old. Lala is a soloist with a Ukrainian – Georgian band Dudu Band. In Winchester, she has organised a choir for children from four to 12 years old from different cities of Ukraine. 

Zarina Ivanova is a 10-year-old singer. She started singing early and her first performance took place when she was five. She has already taken part in various Ukrainian and international singing contests as well as at the Sanctuary concert at Theatre Royal this year. She is doing Grade 5 in piano and Grade 4 in singing. She is passionate about music and dreams of becoming a singer one day.
