A ROMSEY hairdresser is preparing to close her salon at the end of the year and move to working from her home.

Sarah Alford recently announced that Flhair, in The Hundred, would close on December 30.

From the start of 2024, she will be working from a garden room at her home in North Baddesley which has been fully equipped as a salon.

Sarah's colleague Lucie Gilliam-Hill will also be working from the garden room, but Jo McCormack is retiring.

A Facebook post from Sarah, 41, said: “I have made the decision to close the door to my salon at the end of the year. This was not an easy decision but feel it’s time.

“The good news is I will continue hairdressing from my home and welcome you all into my own little salon situated in my garden. Lucie will also continue hairdressing and will split her time between Romsey and my studio. Jo has made the hard decision to hang up her scissors as she is waiting an operation on both her hands, due sometime in November.

“We would all like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued custom and loyalty and helping the business grow.

“Please feel free to ask any questions as we will continue to trade until December 30.”

Sarah told the Advertiser that it felt like "a new beginning" after starting at the salon as an apprentice 24 years ago. She then bought it from the previous owners 14 years ago.

Sarah said: “I've been here for a while, I want to improve my work life balance.

“It's nothing to do with the current climate or footfall. We've got so many loyal customers who are moving with me. They are all very excited.”
