A PUB due to re-open under new ownership has remained closed for at least another month.

The Albion, by Winchester Train Station, closed at the beginning of August for the landlord of eight and a half years, Simon Burrell, to retire.

The sign in the window, which previously said the pub would be shut for the duration of August, has been updated to say it will not be re-opening this month as planned.

The sign reads: “UPDATED NEWS. The Albion will remain closed for the present time and will not open at the beginning of September, as expected.”

A new opening date for the pub in Stockbridge Road has not been given. However, the delay will be no surprise to retiring landlord Mr Burrell who previously said: “The original plan was for the pub to be open again by September but I think that might slip.”

Owners Paul Tickner and Jo Bartlett, who bought the freehold in 2015, put the pub up for sale in June. They also previously owned the Flower Pots in Cheriton.

The property, including a cellar and bedrooms over three floors, is still being marketed for a guide price of £450,000 by Hellards Estate Agents.
