A VAN driver has avoided a ban because of the "exceptional hardship" it would cause.
Anthony Edwards, 53, of The Crossways, Chandler’s Ford, admitted speeding on the B3354 Main Road at Colden Common.
He was caught travelling at 41mph on the 30mph road in a 64-reg Ford Transit on February 16, a court heard.
Magistrates in Southampton spared him a disqualification under the totting-up procedure because of the impact it would have. No further detail on the reasons was given in the court record, except it would cause "exceptional hardship".
Edwards was fined £446 and given four penalty points. He was also ordered to pay £110 court costs and a £178 surcharge.
