As a former Chronicle photographer for many years can I heap the highest praise on Javaid Akhtar for his photo of a chap seen through a wet window on the way back from Boomtown.

I wish I had taken it. A pity that it was published across the gutter, splitting the face in half. It would look great printed large and hung on a wall.

Another contributor, Khalid Aziz, had some interesting things to say on reaching 70 years of age.

If in 1953 the average annual wage was around £1,000 and a house £1,800 how is it that now that the wage is £30,000. You can't buy a house for below £60,000.

He comments on the rise in the cost of parking in the city centre. The council claim it is not about making money rather they want to keep cars out for the sake of air quality. If that is the case surely the best solution would be to close the central car parks completely?

He also gets to the heart of the matter regarding the sale of Hyde Hall with "wrong kind of God?"

Keep up the good work Khalid.
