A NEW bursary scheme designed to allow children from low-income families to learn martial arts has been announced.

Launching on August 7, the scheme is being led by The Apprentice candidate and former Peter Symonds College student Sohail Chowdhary and leading provider of martial arts training AG Martial Arts.

This initiative, backed by thousands of pounds in funding from Mr Chowdhary and AG Martial Arts, is designed to support those from less privileged backgrounds, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from martial arts training.

The scheme has already seen some success, with students using martial arts as an escape from bullying and domestic violence. It has even helped young children of those escaping the war in Ukraine.

Funding will be available for those already in training with AG Martial Arts, as well as new members. Criteria to access the bursary can be any of coming from a household with low income (below £13,000 a year), extraordinary home situations, single-parent families, specific and formally recognised needs and referrals from establishments such as schools and foster associations.

AG Martial Arts is inviting all interested parties to apply for the Bursary Scheme. The application form can be found on the AG Martial Arts website.
