A PUB has sponsored a school of dance enabling it to buy new hoodies for its maypole dancing team.

The group has been touring around Hampshire at a number of venues this summer including schools and village greens.

The donation, from The Four Horseshoes, has gone towards the Jane Mackinnon School of Dance (JMSD), in Nursling.

JMSD, led by founder and renowned choreographer Jane Mackinnon, has been a pillar in the local dance community for more than three decades.

With a focus on skill development, artistic expression and fostering a love of dance, the school has produced numerous talented dancers who now dance professionally, including Ben Wyatt who was voted through to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent this year.

The dance group is due to perform their maypole dances at The Four Horseshoes in the summer which will attract a good-sized crowd, some of which will have an opportunity to try it for themselves.

Jane said: “We are very grateful to The Four Horseshoes for this generous donation to buy hoodies which has been extremely useful whilst the team are training outside in all weathers. You can never completely rely on the British summer! It will be fantastic to do some performances at The Four Horseshoes in the near future.”

Jane will be recruiting for next year’s maypole dancing and interested candidates should contact her early next year.

Mark Pinn, acting general manager at The Four Horseshoes, said: “We are delighted to support our neighbours at the Jane Mackinnon School of Dance and look forward to seeing them perform in our large garden area. I know all our customers will really enjoy it.”
