A WINCHESTER business has published its official net-zero goals following verification from the Science Based Targets initiative.

Telecommunications consultancy Kid-A is aiming to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 42 per cent by 2030 with hopes of achieving net zero by 2050.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) works in partnership with World Resources Institute, WWF, and the United Nations Global Compact to combat the climate crisis by helping organisations to set science-based emissions reduction targets.

After hearing they’d received SBTi, the Kid-A team let out a synchronized “wohooo” in the office in Staple Gardens.

The solutions business, named after Radiohead’s fourth album, works with partners like Vodafone to deliver strategies.

Last year it was certified as the first B-corporation in its industry, for its positive social and environmental contributions.

Kid-A’s chief sustainability officer, Sharon Livingstone, said: “This verification is a critically important moment for Kid-A in climbing the net zero mountain, reducing our GHG emissions, and protecting our pale blue dot from the fatal effects of climate change. However, the hard work to get to achieving these targets, starts now.”
