A COMPTON care home is hosting a summer fair. 
The event, at Shawford Springs Care Home, will be held on Saturday August 19, from 2pm-4pm. 
There will be a mini dog show at 2pm, with categories including prettiest pooch, most handsome hound and waggiest tail. 
From 2.45pm, there will be live music from singer Helen Emslie. There will also be a raffle, garden games, refreshments and more.

MORE minibus drivers are needed to help people with transport in Colden Common.
A message in Colden Common Community Centre's newsletter said: “We are in urgent need of more minibus drivers. The usual job is to do the Wednesday morning shopping run, followed by Lunch Club transport, or the Thursday afternoon Eastleigh shopping run. 
“The rota means that you are normally used about once a month.”

A DISCO for children is coming to Colden Common at the end of August.
The Neon Disco Rave will be held at Colden Common Community Centre on August 25, from 11am-1pm.
There will be music, dancing, foam, neon face-paints and glitter.
Tickets cost £10 per child and £2 per adult.

LOOKING ahead, Colden Common Pre-School has announced the date of its scarecrow festival. 
A post on the pre-school Facebook page said: “Our popular annual community event returns. Join us for a scarecrow hunt around Colden Common. With tasty chocolate treat (allergy alternatives available), wonderful arts and crafts and fab raffle prizes. Great family fun for all ages, with riddles to solve for older children. Everyone is invited. Make a date in your diary - Sunday October 8, drop-in 10am-3pm. Spread the word.
“£5 per child. Price includes entry to the trail and prize, entry to the arts and crafts and colouring competitions and a drink and a biscuit.
“Hot drinks will be served in stoneware cups. If you would like to purchase a drink to take away with you, please bring your own reusable mug.”

NEW dates have been announced for a series of talks in Colden Common.
The Colden Common Talks events involve speakers giving a presentation on a topic of interest.
They have now stopped for the summer and the dates for the rest of the year are September 13, October 11 and November 8.
They are held in the Bert Stratton Lounge of Colden Common Community Centre. 

THE Twyford Locality Festival will be held in September.
The event, which features a wide-range music and entertainment, is on September 2 at Hazeley Fields.
Headlining this year are Coldplace, the world's leading tribute to Coldplay; Robbie Williams by Lee Pashley; Adele by Natalie Black; Peter Pods Peas; and local trio Roxy. 
There will also be a kidszone; bouncy castles; face painting; Juggling Jakes Circus workshop and shows; PTA tuck shop; ice cream van; bars food outlets; tea garden - with two acoustic sets; Grace Croune Photography - family portraits; Tranquil Forest Complimentary Therapies - Indian Head Massage and Reflexology; and Susie James Jewellery.
