Although it can seem to be a sensible way to cool off, people should be aware of the dangers of entering a body of water as the temperatures rise. Open water can still be cold which can lead to people going into shock.

A yellow heat warning has been issued for Winchester this weekend with temperatures already reaching 27 C and on Sunday, the forecast by the Met Office reaches the same maximum temperature of 27 C.

There is a yellow warning for Thunderstorms and an up to 60 per cent chance of precipitation.

Those who enjoy hot summer days need not worry, the forecast for the coming week is good so there is still time to make the most of the sunny days in Winchester.
