LLOYDS Banking Group has announced that its New Alresford branch will close in November.

The branch, located on West Street, is just one of 21 branches which will be shut across the UK.

A Lloyds Bank spokesperson said: “As many customers now choose to bank online or through their mobile app, visits to our Alresford branch have fallen over recent years.

“The local Post Office offers everyday banking, with cash also available at free-to-use ATMs, alongside other ways to bank such as online, phone and mobile banking services”.

The branch is set to close its doors for good on November 27.

Lloyds claim that 83 per cent of its personal customers use other ways of banking, such as over the phone and internet banking, as well as other branches, with branch transactions falling by more than 50 per cent between 2017 and 2022.

The bank said that it is contacting customers to let them know about alternative local banking services, including the nearby post office located at Alresford Co-op.

With the closure of Lloyds, the only bank still maintaining operating in Alresford will be Nationwide, which has a building society also located on West Street.
