A teenager who died in an incident off Bournemouth beach yesterday afternoon was from Hampshire, police have confirmed.
A girl,12, and a boy, 17, sustained "critical injuries" in an incident by the pier on Wednesday, May 31, and later died in hospital.
Eight other people were also pulled from the water during the rescue operation at around 4.30pm.
The 17-year-old boy was from Southampton, Dorset Police confirmed in a press conference at Bournemouth International Centre on Thursday, June 1.

In a statement read out to journalists, Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Farrell said: "Just after 4.30pm yesterday we received a call from colleagues from the ambulance service requesting assistance on the beach off Bournemouth pier.
"The initial report received by emergency services was that a number of people were in trouble in the sea.
"A total of 10 people were rescued from the water. A 17-year-old boy from Southampton and a 12-year-old girl from Buckinghamshire were taken to hospital where very sadly, they later died."
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He remains in custody.
