A total of £3m worth of funding is expected to be approved for cardiovascular disease prevention, mental health interventions and activities to improve health and well-being in deprived areas of Hampshire.

The NHS organisations that could receive grants include Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board, Frimley Integrated Care Board, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Southern Health NHS Trust.

Up to £3 million of public health funding would be utilised to deliver public health priorities in NHS organisations in the Hampshire County Council area.

These grants would reduce health inequalities, as defined in the Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) criteria.

The Integrated Care Board, which could be one of the awarded organisations, would use the funding to improve the prevention, detection and management of risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, which is one priority in the local authority due to the negative impact of Covid-19.

The source of the grant funding comes from the COMF, first distributed by the government in 2020 to provide financial support for testing, tracing and containing activity for Covid-19.

The council council’s executive lead member for adult social care and public health, Cllr Liz Fairhurst, could approve the proposed grant on Tuesday (June 6).
