POLICE arrested a man in the early hours of the morning following a series of offences in the city centre.
The city centre police team had a hectic start to the bank holiday weekend. Soon into their duty on the night of Friday, May 26 officers were called to help Winchester BID rangers with a known shoplifter in the High Street.

Winchester Police posted on Facebook: “After asking the male to leave, the male became aggressive and threatening towards the officers. Shortly afterwards the male was arrested for a number of public order offences and theft. He remains in custody at this time.”
Within the same shift, officers also arrested a woman for robbery in the city centre. The woman assaulted one of the officers and was further arrested for the offence.
The individual remains in custody and the assaulted police officer was fit to continue his duty.
