A WELL-KNOWN vicar, who was in the band the Communards in the 1980s, will be at Winchester Cathedral in June.

The Rev Richard Coles and Dean Catherine Ogle join together for an evening of conversation on June 22, at 7pm.

The conversation is expected to explore a wide range of topics including faith, spirituality, the role of the church in society, as well as other contemporary issues.

During the event, Rev Coles and Dean Ogle will delve into the profound influence of loss and faith on Rev Coles' life, as well as the significant role that writing has played in his journey.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to explore Rev Coles' latest book, A Death in the Parish, the second instalment in his crime novel series featuring Canon Clement.

The first book in the series, Murder Before Evensong, became an instant Sunday Times bestseller.

The pair first crossed paths during Rev Coles' theological college training when Dean Ogle was the Vicar of Huddersfield.

Reflecting on their initial encounter, the Dean said: "As a former fan of the Communards, I was delighted when Richard joined us and made a conscious effort not to treat him any differently. I wondered how he would navigate the transition into priesthood and parish ministry. Needless to say, I had nothing to worry about. Over the years, I have witnessed him bring it all together with brilliance, passion, and aplomb."

The event schedule will consist of a 45-minute conversation, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. The evening will culminate with a book signing from 8pm to 9pm.
