ROMSEY’S neighbourhood police team has reported a busy week, responding to 22 incidents and investigating a further 19.

On Friday, April 28, Romsey police officers posted a weekly update on the Test Valley Cops Facebook page.

Throughout the week, officers in the town responded to a suspicious incident involving a World War 2 shell which was found and disposed of by an explosive ordnance device, seven cases of anti-social behaviour, four cases of criminal damage, and four cases of harassment. A case of concern for welfare was also responded to, with a man located and safeguarding put in place. Officers responded to a public order, with details of the youths taken before they were sent home. Five cases of shop lifting were responded to, with banning letters issued to the youths involved.

The team also listed the cases it has been investigating, with the majority still ongoing. These included:

  • One case of action fraud – safeguarding has been put in place.
  • 4 cases of criminal damage – arrests were made, with police awaiting outcomes.
  • 4 cases of harassment - arrests were made, with police awaiting outcomes.
  • 5 cases of shoplifting - banning letters to be issues to the youths involved.
  • One case of assault with injury - enquiries still ongoing.
  • One case of theft from a motor vehicle – enquiries still ongoing.
  • One case of theft of a motor vehicle – enquiries still ongoing.
  • One case of criminal damage – enquiries still ongoing.
  • One case of assault without injury – enquiries still ongoing.

Patrols have taken place in Romsey Town, Cupernham, Abbotswood, Woodley, North Baddesley, Tadburn, Nursling, Rownhams, Valley Park, Chandler’s Ford, Ampfield, Awbridge, Mottisfont, Ower and Ridge.
