A SUTTON Scotney charity, that supports adults with learning disabilities, is entering the
Beautiful Borders garden competition at the BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair at Beaulieu at the end of April.
The Boaz Project’s 4.5-acre organic working smallholding in Sutton Scotney produces high quality fruit, vegetables, flowers and eggs.
Members work alongside volunteers and staff, growing plants and taking care of the farm’s many animals, which provides a sense of purpose, belonging and teamwork.
The Beautiful Borders competition is designed to offer inspiration for small gardens and challenging spaces. This year’s competition theme is ‘My Garden Escape’.

Andy Brooks, head of horticulture at The Boaz Project, said: “Our gardens at Boaz are a place where our members come to work and forget the troubles of the world through the benefits of therapeutic horticulture.
"Our Boaz Border is designed to give an insight into the activities and plants our members encounter, while staff and volunteers work alongside them. A place where stories are told, jokes are shared and where many a smile brightens up the cloudiest of days in our field of dreams.”
Rachel Poletti-Gadd, portfolio director at gardening division at Immediate Live, said: “Visitors flock to see the beautiful borders because they are literally bursting with creative, inspiring ideas than can be achieved at home. The borders show that gardens don’t have to be large, costly or complicated to be full of colour and character, and that even the most challenging spaces, like a shady spot or a tricky corner, can be transformed with some imaginative design. We can't wait to see The Boaz Border in situ at the Spring Fair.”
The BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair takes place at Beaulieu from April 28-30.
Tickets include access to Beaulieu’s grounds, gardens and attractions. and are available from: bbcgardenersworldfair.com.
