Having had the basis of an idea for a story for some years, it was after her retirement from business that Lyn Ebdon decided it was about time she set about getting it written.

Lyn, with her friend Iain, owned and ran Paragons Personnel Recruitment Agency in Romsey town centre for almost thirty years before deciding to sell so that she could retire.

During her time in business Lyn also became heavily involved in the running of the Romsey Show; a member of the show council and sponsorship chairman for a number of years. She was also show chairman in 2009 and 2010.

Now she has decided to take on the mantle of author and her novella, Taken In By The Lights, has just been published.

The story originated when Lyn was walking her dogs across the fields at her home one foggy evening and a pair of lights appeared, hovering eerily on the horizon.

However it was some years later, when visiting old haunts with an old school friend, that she passed the cottage in Pennington where she had lived as a young girl prior to her parents taking on the running of The Fisherman’s Rest pub in Lymington.

The cottage was boarded up and no longer lived in but memories of it made her decide to base her story there.

Narrated by Laura, the eldest of three children, it tracks events from a family’s move into an old village cottage and the initial appearance of the lights to their devastating reappearance to her brothers and the subsequent outcome for Laura.

Lyn is now working on ideas for her next book.
